DKM Culinary Arts – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

DKM (Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia) Culinary Arts** is a skills-based program that trains students in professional cooking, food preparation, kitchen management, and culinary creativity. It’s designed to equip students for careers in the food service and hospitality industry.

This program is ideal for individuals who:

  • Love cooking and experimenting with food
  • Want to work in restaurants, hotels, or catering
  • Enjoy hands-on learning in a kitchen environment
  • Aspire to become chefs, kitchen supervisors, or entrepreneurs

The full program duration is approximately 2 years & 6 month including industrial training (Latihan Industri).

You will learn:

  • Cooking techniques for local and international cuisine
  • Food preparation and knife skills
  • Kitchen hygiene and safety
  • Menu planning and cost control
  • Presentation, plating, and teamwork in the kitchen

Yes. The DKM Culinary Arts program is accredited by theDepartment of Skills Development (JPK), under theMinistry of Human Resources, Malaysia.

Upon successful completion, you will receive theDiploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) Level 4 – Culinary Arts, plus additional competency-based certificates where applicable.

You can work as:

  • Commis Chef / Chef de Partie
  • Kitchen Assistant / Supervisor
