Accreditation Verification Visit by the Department of Skills Development (JPK) Panel
Miri, 14 October 2025 — The Riam Institute of Technology (RIAMTEC) recently hosted an accreditation verification visit by the Panel Penentusahan Pentauliahan Program Latihan Kemahiran Sistem Latihan Pusat Bertauliah (SLaPB) from the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK) Sarawak Region. The visit focused on the Aesthetic Services Programme [NOSS Code: S960-002-3:2020], which is currently undergoing the accreditation process under the Malaysian Skills Certification system. The session was chaired by Mr. Wan Jiman bin Wan Drahman, Officer from JPK Sarawak, while Ms. Shalina binti Abdullah served as the Verification Panel Assessor. During the visit, the panel evaluated various aspects of the programme, including the quality of training delivery, facilities, curriculum implementation, and compliance with JPK’s accreditation standards. According to JPK, the exercise forms part of its ongoing quality assurance efforts to ensure accredited centres maintain excellence in skills training and align with national competency benchmarks. The exercise served as an important reminder of the significance of emergency readiness and provided participants with practical, hands-on exposure to fire safety procedures. Key Highlights of the Day Fire Drill ExerciseThe drill began with a simulated emergency situation where students and staff practiced evacuation procedures, ensuring everyone understood the correct response during a fire incident. Demonstration of Fire Extinguisher UseSafety officers conducted a live demonstration on the proper handling and usage of fire extinguishers. This session allowed participants to gain confidence in using fire safety equipment effectively. Firefighting Truck DisplayA firefighting truck was made available on campus, giving students and staff the opportunity to explore the technical aspects of rescue operations. The demonstration offered valuable insights into the crucial role of firefighters in safeguarding the community. Building a Culture of Safety RIAMTEC strongly believes that safety is a shared responsibility. RIAMTEC Celebrates 26th Graduation Ceremony with 206 Graduates
MIRI, 29 August 2025 – Riam Institute of Technology (RIAMTEC) proudly marked a significant milestone with its 26th Graduation Ceremony, held at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club. The event brought together graduates, families, lecturers, and industry guests in a joyous celebration of academic success and future aspirations. The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato Sri Dr Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport Sarawak, who delivered words of encouragement and congratulated the graduating class on their dedication and achievements. This year, a total of 206 graduates received certificates across a diverse range of academic and skills-based programmes, reflecting RIAMTEC’s mission to provide students with industry-relevant pathways. Graduates represented fields such as: Bachelor of Business Cambridge GCE A Level Diplomas in Engineering, Hotel Management, Accounting, Commerce, Digital Marketing, and Occupational Health & Safety Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia in Automotive Electrical, Patisserie, and Culinary Arts Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia in Electrical Installation & Maintenance, Aesthetic Beauty Therapy, and Oil Palm Mechanisation The ceremony was filled with memorable highlights, from inspiring speeches to proud family moments, reminding graduates that this achievement marks both an ending and a new beginning. Riamtec Triumphs at Hari Kerjaya TVET ILKBS 2025 – Zone Borneo
MIRI, 6 September 2025 – Riam Institute of Technology (Riamtec) proudly participated in the Hari Kerjaya TVET ILKBS 2025 – Zone Borneo, organised by IKBN Miri at Permy Mall, Miri. The event brought together TVET institutions, industry representatives, and the community to celebrate skills, innovation, and career opportunities. At the event, Riamtec showcased its programmes through an interactive booth that welcomed visitors with engaging activities and insightful information about the institute. The highlight of the day was the Cupcake Design Competition, held under the theme Hari Malaysia, where Riamtec students demonstrated their creativity and technical expertise. We are proud to announce that Erica Ling Li Jun emerged as the First Prize Winner, while Jonathan Chin Hao Wen secured Third Place, competing against 10 participants from various TVET institutes across the region. Their remarkable achievements reflect not only their passion and talent but also the high-quality guidance provided by Riamtec’s Culinary and Patisserie lecturers. This accomplishment is a testament to Riamtec’s mission of producing industry-ready graduates who are both skilled and innovative. By excelling in competitions such as this, our students continue to showcase the strength of TVET education and Riamtec’s role in nurturing future professionals.
